Red Sox Trip to Japan a Bad Idea?

Has the trip to Japan already ruined the 08' campaign for the Red Sox? Almost all the players seem to be keeping quiet about the trip except for one, the closer Jonathan Papelbon.

Mike Lowell and the Red Sox Put on Dancing Shoes for Charity

Mike Lowell, Red Sox third baseman, hosted "Mike Lowell's Dancing With the All-Stars" on Saturday night to benefit his own foundation and their efforts to raise money to fight cancer in children.

Jonathan Papelbon led off the night in his black lace shirt but was quickly outdone when Dustin Pedoria decided it was a good move to rip his shirt off, which no doubt turned into a bad decision. I guess we can be thankful that Bartolo Colon didn't show up and rip his shirt off as well.

Hank Steinbrenner, one of the principal leaders of the New York Yankees and sporting one of the largest foreheads in NY, has gone and taken a page from his father's, George, book with this quote: "Red Sox Nation?" It looks like Theo Epstein has spent one too many Thanksgiving Dinners at the house of Curt Schilling. In an uncharacteristic move the reserved Theo decided to stir up a little controversy. As a GM of a team sporting Manny, JD Drew, Curt Schilling, and Coco “Start me or Trade me” Crisp, it’s a tough pill to swallow when you go out of the organization to rip the character of a rival teams veteran player.

"Members of the 2007 World Series champion Red Sox gathered on the White House lawn this afternoon and were honored by President George W. Bush (Check out photos).

Slugger David Ortiz, an odd sight in eyeglasses, carried the World Series trophy into the ceremony. Captain Jason Varitek presented Bush with a Red Sox jersey that read "Bush" on the back with the number "07."

Among those missing from the proceedings was Manny Ramirez, whose absence was noted by Bush.

Santana Claus

You better be good you better not cry because Santana Claus is coming to town! He knows when you’ve been sleeping (Twins!!). He knows when you’re awake (Sox and Yanks), so you better be good for goodness sake!

Santana wants out of the Twin Cities and if you’ll throw together a nice parting gift to the Twins, you could wind up with one of the greatest lefties of all time, while your nemesis is left with nothing but a stocking full of coal this Christmas.

Cy Cy Sabathia

CC won the Cy Young, and rightfully so. He was a work-horse and was dominant down the stretch in September. But most importantly, these votes are cast at the end of the season, so any post-season performances would not cloud the writers' judgments, because, let's face it, add in the post-season and Beckett wins the award unanimously. But the writers got this one right.

Here are the voting results:
C.C. Sabathia, Indians - 19 firsts, 8 seconds - 119 points
Josh Beckett, Red Sox - 8 firsts, 14 seconds, 4 thirds - 86 points
