Hank Steinbrenner, one of the principal leaders of the New York Yankees and sporting one of the largest foreheads in NY, has gone and taken a page from his father's, George, book with this quote: "Red Sox Nation?" What a bunch of shit that is," he said in an interview with The New York Times' Play magazine. "That was a creation of the Red Sox and ESPN, which is filled with Red Sox fans.
"Go anywhere in America and you won't see Red Sox hats and jackets, you'll see Yankee hats and jackets. This is a Yankee country. We're going to put the Yankees back on top and restore the universe to order."
Hal, Hank's younger brother, would not be outdone and unleashed his fury with this quote: "The defending World Series champions have "a lot of talent, and [have] done very well the past few years, but let me put it this way: I don't think [they] wanted to play us in the ALCS," Hal Steinbrenner said. "So I will concede nothing. I think we're better than [them]."
Nice one Hal. Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me. I'm guessing the story will break sometime this season that Hal was adopted.
Either way both these boys are stepping up the heated rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox and I for one can't wait for the 2008 season to begin. Let the name calling begin!
