While I was dead right about the Packers, my usually sound advice went for naught after that. Luckily for me, I woke up Sunday and had a feeling, parlayed the Chargers & Giants (getting the points) and threw an additional bet down on the Giants to win (+250). It was a good Sunday.
In my defense, the Pats were a blown call (Garrard was down on that 1st TD toss) and an inexpicable Wes Welker drop & equally inexpicable Goskowtski miss from winning that game 41-16. So they should have covered; but the over happened and I was A-OK with that. And while I didn't think the G-men had a chance to beat Dallas, I figured it would be a close game; and seeing that No. 1 seeds hadn't lost their divisional round game since the NFL expanded to a 12-team format, well, the odds were not in the G-men's favor. Hats off to them.
But the Colts-Chargers game, I was way off. I thought Peyton Manning doused his playoff demons last year, yet he reverted to "can't win the big one" Peyton Sunday. Talk about Exhibit A on why they play the games.
This week, I will stick to my prediction that the Pats & the Pack will stage a rematch from the Super Bowl 11 years ago. As far as the spreads, I say the magic expires for the G-men and the Pack take them down by at least a TD and I'm still undecided on if the Pats can bust out a blowout (14.5 is a huge spread for a conference championship game); we'll see how that drops for Friday.
