I must say, I am loving what I am seeing so far in the Finals. Game 1 was well played and featured the huge, epic comeback by Pierce. Game 2 was 3 ½ quarters of just domination before holding off a furious comeback (way too stressful). The Lakers can cry about the foul shot disparity, but you don't get to the line without taking it to the rack. And the NBA has a history of large foul shot disparities, including the Lakers getting the benefits against the Nuggets (Games 3 & 4) and the Jazz (except for Game 5; in fact, take out Game 5 and the Lakers had a 206 to 127 FTA advantage in the other 5 games – an average of 41.2 to 25.4 per game). And Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant and the rest of their traveling band seem to think it’s their birthright to have the FTA advantage, as proven by their post-game comments.
But the NBA stands to lose approximately $80M per Finals game that doesn't get played. And they could lose even more money if the series were to go to 3-0 Celtics tonight, since nationwide (and LA) interest would plummet because teams never come back from 3-0 (although that one baseball team did it, right? Who was that again? And against whom? HAHA - the gift that keeps on giving! But I digress).
So who is refereeing tonight's game? You guessed it, Frank Stallone! Actually, it's Joey Crawford AND Bennett Salvatore, who are notorious among fans as being two of the worst refs in the league. Crawford, you might remember, actually got suspended for his behavior when he unjustly ejected Tim Duncan once. And he was part of the crew (as was tonight's 3rd ref, Mark Wunderlich) that didn't call the foul on Derek Fisher when he jumped into Brent Barry at the end of Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals - a non-call that the NBA apologized for and confirmed it should have been called. Yet, despite that embarrassing situation, the NBA will trot out 2 of those refs to "officiate" tonight's game. Then there's Salvatore, who has a long history of terrible calls and being one of the biggest "homer" refs in the business. You might recall an offensive foul called on Pierce in Game 6 against the Pistons (the old "pump fake, lean into the guy, shoot it after the contact" move that EVERY great scorer has used since the '80s – in fact, Reggie Miller made a career out of it) - a call that Michael Wilbon called, during the nationally televised post-game show, "the worst call in the history of the NBA."
Crawford & Salvatore were also 2 of the 3 refs that infamously sent Dwayne Wade to the line for 25 free throws in Game 5 of the 2006 NBA Finals (the Heat took 49 FTs to Dallas' 25 in that game) - a game the Heat won by 1 point in overtime. Ask a Mavericks fan about that game - you might as well tell them that Aikman was overrated and be ready for them to lay into you.
The assignment of Crawford and Salvatore sends a message - clearly, the NBA would like to see Thursday night's Game 4 with the series at 2-1, not 3-0, as they want this series to extend further than 4 or 5 games.

Tonights game will be reminiscent of a WWF match (the WWE is for 40 year old physics teachers that live in their mom's basement) not because KG will put a suplex on Kobe, but because the refs will pull the old distracted by one thing while the other Bushwacker brother kicks the no name dude in the crotch routine. In other words the true outcome of the match will never be known, because the refs ineptitude will decide the outcome tonight.
Funny how you forgot to mention that game 2 was totally controlled by the refs in favor of the Boston(can't win w/o the refs) Celtics. And funny how you forgot to mention that prior to that play where Barry was fouled Fisher's shot hit the rim which would of resulted a full 24 clock instead of the 2 seconds given which would have forced the Spurs to foul, oh and the travel by Tim Duncan and the no hands defense by Bowen that was so good that Bryant was getting hacked but can't buy a call. I agree with you that the NBA is screwed but get your stuff right first. I know you want Boston to win and so does the NBA. In the end we're all getting played but we are players ourselves for buying into it.
Overall the officiating in the NBA has been horrible during the playoffs. I don't want to see makeup calls anymore. I want to see games that are called correctly.
Also, Game 2 was not won by Boston because of officiating. The C's had a 20+ point lead and controlled the first 2 quarters of that game while dominating the 3rd quarter. I'll give it to LA for finally coming alive in the 4th and hitting all those 3-pointers to make it interesting but to say that Boston won this game based on officiating isn't doing justice for either team.
Oh and what's the season record, including playoffs, so far with Boston and LA?
You fail to remember that the Lakers controlled the 1st quarter with a 15-9 lead. Once the 2nd BS call was made on Kobe the lakers were taken out of the game.

I am tired of these so called refs, I am tired of people not writing the truth in their columns, I am tired of the hatred among the fans. Iam tired. I am a die hard Laker fan and I will acknowledge when the other team was charge for a foul wrongly, whether my team loses or not. But to these Celtic fan and coach Rivers say the reason they did not get any calls was because "we went to the goal more agressive" is absolutely absurb and rather ingenious. The Lakers was all over the floor ,knocked down an there were no calls. The way things are now a days we will never enjoy this sport the way it was meant. The nba want the games to be played their way, they want to detemine who win a championship. I wish for one series that I could actually see who the best team really is. But you can bet your bottom dllar that will not happen if the nba and their dirty refs has any say about it.

We can go back and forth all day with the horrible calls on both sides of the ball, and that is the problem...instead of arguing amongst ourselves as fans as to who got more shitty calls we should get together and demand a better job from the NBA, because these finals should be something special both teams can enjoy instead of a who gets the refs tonight debacle.
So far through 1 quarter the Lakers are way more aggresive and driving to the hole and so far the calls have been pretty good. Let's see if they stay this way the whole game.
