Hank Steinbrenner Says Red Sox Nation a Bunch of Shit?

Hank Steinbrenner, one of the principal leaders of the New York Yankees and sporting one of the largest foreheads in NY, has gone and taken a page from his father's, George, book with this quote: "Red Sox Nation?" What a bunch of shit that is," he said in an interview with The New York Times' Play magazine. "That was a creation of the Red Sox and ESPN, which is filled with Red Sox fans.

"Go anywhere in America and you won't see Red Sox hats and jackets, you'll see Yankee hats and jackets. This is a Yankee country. We're going to put the Yankees back on top and restore the universe to order."

Hal, Hank's younger brother, would not be outdone and unleashed his fury with this quote: "The defending World Series champions have "a lot of talent, and [have] done very well the past few years, but let me put it this way: I don't think [they] wanted to play us in the ALCS," Hal Steinbrenner said. "So I will concede nothing. I think we're better than [them]."

Nice one Hal. Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me. I'm guessing the story will break sometime this season that Hal was adopted.

Either way both these boys are stepping up the heated rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox and I for one can't wait for the 2008 season to begin. Let the name calling begin!

Nice ego on that guy, and of course the forehead too. I hope he gets that cockyness stuffed back into his face.

WHAT'D YOU KNO BOUT DEM YANKEEEESSS??? LETS GOOO...come see us red sox...

This quote is hilarious first and foremost. Hank wants to say that Red Sox Nation is only a bunch of Red Sox fans across the US.... Well no shit Hank! What else would it be?? And while the Yankees are the standard for great American sports teams, they seem to be declining. Hank then goes on to say the Red Sox were happy they did not face the Yankees in the playoffs last year. This is the best part. He forgot to mention that his Yankees were NOT good enough to face US! They could not even get far enough into the playoffs to face the Red Sox. Also, the Red Sox had a way better lineup last year than the Yankees, who usually have had larger and better rosters in past seasons. If we had faced the Yankees, we most likely would have won 4-2..or we could have come back out of a 3-0 hole like say...2004!? The Yankees are not who they used to be and everyone in sports knows it. The new owner of the most prolific sports team in America needs to grow up and stop acting like the spoiled son of a billionaire he is. With the departure of Torre and not being able to sign Johan Santana, the Yankees really have big shoes to fill and an even larger NATION to face in the 2008 season. I look forward to another heated Yankees-Red Sox rivalry play out!
