Re: Re: What's the Point of Cheerleaders?

Cheerleaders indeed get "fans excited" but not in the way you hope or think. Are you saying that folks who purchase tickets to see their home team say to themselves as they're entering through the gates "Gee, I suppose I will be about 75% excited but thank goodness the cheerleaders will be there to boost up my spirits" ?

I do agree that the dance skills take a LOT of work but I ask, what does choreographed dance, much like a Britney Spears concert, have to do w/ sports ? Do you really believe that a majority of spectators in the stands/seats are saying "wow, what a precision dance team. That is some talent" And if it isn't, why do most, if not all, dance teams (They're not cheerleaders) require their candidates / performers to maintain a certain body weight / size if it isn't about eye-candy? Why do they publish bathing suit calendars and even pose in lingerie? Share with us please your acumen on how this adds value to teams / sporting events ? Opps, I forgot, you stated that it's about getting the fans excited. Well, mission accomplished. I hope this doesn't jade you too much as I realize there are a lot of naive folks wondering around.

Cheers !
