Hank strikes back

Theo might have sounded dumb calling out the Yankees (although he was speaking the truth, the Yankees did bitch about that trip, it's just something he didn't need to say) but Thanks Dad Hank spouted off his fantastically big mouth about the Sox:

"Red Sox Nation?" What a bunch of [expletive] that is," he said in an interview with The New York Times' Play magazine. "That was a creation of the Red Sox and ESPN, which is filled with Red Sox fans. ... Go anywhere in America and you won't see Red Sox hats and jackets, you'll see Yankee hats and jackets. This is a Yankee country. We're going to put the Yankees back on top and restore the universe to order."

How out of touch with this guy? I've gone plenty of places in America and I see a pretty equal amount of Red Sox & Yankees gear. Whenever the Sox or the Yankees are on the road, their fans show up to support them, and in many cases, outnumber the home fans. Silverspoonbrenner doesn't seem to understand the phrase 'Red Sox Nation' - it's just a name given to the large Red Sox fan base, coined by a sportswriter and eventually copyrighted & exploited by an opportunistic ownership group (and for the record, I will never shell out an annual fee to be recognized as an 'official member of Red Sox Nation' - born and raised baby!). He also has come up with some convoluted idea that ESPN, located within an hour of NYC, has a Red Sox bias (when it has an equal, if not greater, bias toward the Yankees). I'm glad this blowhard is running the circus down there - I missed George ranting and raving about this and that, and it gives me another reason the hate the Yankees.
